Wondering how to get your firm’s website up and running in less than 10 minutes? Try my favorite, easy to use website tool – WordPress. A blog running WordPress (or another CMS) should be tops in any architect’s arsenal of social media tools. It’s worth playing around with at the very least.
To start out, you’ll need a webhost – I use BlueHost (also home of Bob Borson’s “Life of an Architect”!). After that…well, just watch the video below.
After you watch the video let me know what you think! Does this work for you? P.S. Click the arrows in the lower right hand side of the video to watch full screen – you can also increase the viewing resolution for better quality.

Interesting blog! Is your theme custom made or did
you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements
would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your theme.
Kudos

Enoch;
Awesome, you answered so many questions I’ve had in trying to learn wordpress. After reading your article proclaiming my website sucked I have been investigating the use of wordpress. Additional questions would be how do I load my own photos into the rotating header that provided in twentyeleven?

Hi Ed! With the default theme you can change the header to a static image, but it isn’t easy to replace the rotating images – that takes a little bit of backend work. The best way to do this is to start off on the right foot and choose a WordPress theme that is better suited to an architect’s website -> Like on Themeforest. Search for “portfolio” or “architect” or “photography” under “WordPress Themes” for good portfolio sites. Or on Themeforest click the menu WordPress -> Creative. This will show a HUGE list of themes that will give you a professional, custom look while also being able to integrate a blog and other social media tools (most for around $35 US – wow!). Web development has come a long way in 10 years. I love it!
